Instruction (BIG PHOTO)/Rattle

how make the 'Knit rattle CAT' D.I.Y

Cut the toe of the sock and the ankle leg section of the sock. The heel of the sock will later become the cat’s face, and ankle leg section of the sock will later become the ears and tail of the cat.

Leave about 0.5~1cm of a space from the cut-out toe section and do a running stitch across the hole.

Pull the thread to pucker the fabric

 like a drawstring pouch.

Pull the thread and insert it inwards

with your fingers.

Pull it gently so the thread does not break.

Insert the cotton through

the opening on the other end.

Insert the bell in the stuffed cotton.

(The bell comes in transparent color and white color,

but there is no difference in their quality or sound)

Do the same stitching on the other opening of the sock.

(Repeat the same directions as #2 through #4 )

Turn the ankle section of the sock inside out, then trace the cut-out of the design paper of cat’s ears and tail (included in the package) onto the sock with water-soluble pen.

(If available, draw with a water-soluble pen)

Sew along the lines of the ears and tail,

and leave the opening on where the arrows are pointed in the guideline picture. (do it backstitch)

Cut along the stitched lines

with 0.5cm of slack all around.

Use the opening hole, where it’s not stitched,

to turn the ears and tail inside out.

(Use forceps, if available,

to better help with turning the tail inside out)

Set the ear in the desired position on the body

(previously made with the heel section of the sock) and sew it on using the whipstitch method.

Do a running stitch along the edges of cat’s ear

so the ear flap is more defined.

Repeat the same directions for the other ear

(Repeat the same directions as #12 through #13 )

Just like the cat’s ears, turn the tail inside out and whip stitch it onto the cat’s body. (guidelines to whip stitching is indicated on SOCKSPLZ YOUTUBE)

Draw a sketch of where you’d like the cat’s eyes, nose,

and whiskers to be.

(If available, draw with a water-soluble pen)

Using whichever color of thread desired, sew its eyes, nose, whiskers, and mouth onto the body using embroidery stitching method.

(guidelines for embroidery stitching

is indicated on SOCKSPLZ YOUTUBE)

Using a red thread, thread it long the lower face line of the cat

(like its collar) and tie in the little kitty bell in the middle.

Stitch in the jump ring between its ears.

Paint in whatever color you choose onto its cheeks and nose to make it look more lively and adorable.

String the bead chain through the jump ring

adjusted on the cute cat

And

it’s complete!
